Abu al-Layth al-Samarqandi – may Allah have mercy on him – mentioned:
Among the rights of a parent over their child:
-
To feed them if they are in need of food.
-
To clothe them if possible.
-
Among their rights is to serve them if they or either of them require assistance.
-
To respond to their prayers and obey their commands, as long as it is not disobedience to Allah.
-
To speak to them gently.
-
To not call them by name in a disrespectful way.
-
To walk behind them as a sign of respect.
-
To pray to Allah for their forgiveness.
