جئتني بالتمر ولم تنزع منه النوى

What is the secret behind the fame of this phrase, and who said it?

It caught the attention of ‘Umar ibn Al-Khattab that Abu Bakr would go to the outskirts of Medina after Fajr prayer, enter a small house for a few hours, and then return home.

‘Umar knew everything Abu Bakr did of good, except the secret of this house. Days passed, and the Caliph continued to visit the house, while ‘Umar still did not know what Abu Bakr was doing inside.

Finally, ‘Umar decided to enter the house after Abu Bakr left, to see with his own eyes what the Companion did after Fajr.

When he entered the small house, he found an elderly blind woman who could hardly move and had no one to care for her, and he recognized her.

‘Umar was astonished by what he saw and wanted to know the secret of Abu Bakr’s relationship with this blind elderly woman.

He asked her:
“What does this man do here?”
(meaning Abu Bakr)

She replied:
“By Allah, I do not know, my son. This man comes every morning, cleans the house for me, sweeps, prepares my food, and then leaves without speaking a word to me.”

When Abu Bakr passed away, ‘Umar continued to take care of the blind elderly woman. She asked him:
“Has your companion died?”
He said: “And how do you know?”
She replied: “You came to me with dates and did not remove the pits.”

At that moment, ‘Umar ibn Al-Khattab fell to his knees, his eyes filled with tears, and he said his famous words:
“You have made the caliphs after you work hard, O Abu Bakr.”

These are the Companions of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ.
These are the ones we should emulate and teach our children to follow.

شدَّ انتباه عُمر بن الخطاب أن أبا بكر يخرج إلى أطراف المدينة بعد صلاة الفجر ،، ويدخل بيتا صغيرا لساعات ثم ينصرف إلى بيته
وكان عمر يعرف كل ما يفعله أبو بكر الصديق من خير إلا سر هذا البيت
مرت الأيام ،، ومازال خليفة المؤمنين يزور هذا البيت
ومازال عمر لا يعرف ماذا يفعل الصديق داخله
فقرر عُمر دخول البيت بعد خروج أبو بكر منه
ليشاهد بعينه ما بداخله
وليعرف ماذا يفعل فيه الصديق بعد صلاة الفجر
حينما دخل عمر هذا البيت الصغير
وجد سيدة عجوز لا تقوى على الحِراك ليس لها أحد
كما أنها عمياء العينين ,, و عرفها بنفسه
فاستغرب إبن الخطاب مما شاهد ؟؟
وأراد أن يعرف ما سر علاقة أبي بكر بهذه العجوز العمياء ؟

سأل عمر العجوز
ماذا يفعل هذا الرجل عندكم ؟
* (يقصد أبو بكر الصديق)
فأجابت العجوز ،، وقالت
والله لا أعلم يا بُني ؛؛ فهذا الرجل يأتي كل صباح
وينظف لي البيت ،، ويكنسه
ومن ثم يُعد لي الطعام
وينصرف دون أن يُكلمني

ولما مات أبو بكر قام عُمر بأستكمال رعاية العجوز الضريرة
فقالت له : أمات صاحبك ؟
قال : وماأدراكِ ؟
قالت : جئتني بالتمر ،، ولم تنزع منه النوى
جثم عمر بن الخطاب على ركبتيه ،، وفاضت عيناه بالدموع
وقال عبارته الشهيرة
“لقد أتعبت الخلفاء من بعدك يا أبا بكر”

هؤلاء هم صحابة رسول الله رضوان الله عليهم
هؤلاء من يجب أن نقتدي بهم ونعلم أبناءنا ذلك
