From A Christian Missionary Student To A Muslim — Caren’s Journey To Islam Is A Powerful Story Of Sincere Searching, Reflection, And Guidance. 
Caren grew up questioning some of the teachings she had been raised with and spent years searching for what she believed was the truth. As a teenager, she joined a conservative Baptist church and eventually felt called toward missionary work.
When she went to college, she carried a Quran with her—not to understand Islam, but with the intention of finding “ammunition” to challenge Muslim students and convince them to leave Islam.
But when she finally began reading the Quran alone in her dorm room, something unexpected happened.
Instead of finding arguments against Islam, she encountered words that deeply moved her. The Quran challenged many of the assumptions she had previously held about Islam and Muslims. While reading about people who recognized truth and were moved to tears, she herself began to cry.
She eventually found herself in sujood—prostrating before Allah—even before fully understanding the Islamic practice.
For Caren, this became a turning point. She described experiencing a profound sense of peace and relief from burdens she had carried for years. She ultimately embraced Islam and began a new journey, despite initially having little support or guidance from a Muslim community.
Over the decades that followed, she learned how to pray, raised five children as Muslims, studied Quran and Arabic, and eventually dedicated herself to helping other new Muslims.
Today, her message to new Muslims is especially important: Do not overwhelm yourself. Learn gradually, remain consistent, and build your relationship with Allah step by step.
Her story is a reminder that sincere guidance can sometimes come from places we least expect—and that the journey toward truth begins with an honest heart and a sincere search.
