She said to her husband:
“Where did you get this milk?”
She replied:
“I milked it for three people, and among them was a righteous man. I wiped the udder of this goat, and it gave milk as much as he wished!”
Her husband said to her:
“Describe him to me, O Umm Ma‘bad.”
Umm Ma‘bad said:
“I saw a man with clear, radiant features, good character, and a handsome face. He was neither rough nor coarse. He was well-proportioned and elegant, with black eyes full of light, soft eyelids, a gentle voice, a long neck, and a thick beard. When silent, he carried dignity; when he spoke, his words were elevated and beautiful. His speech was coherent, neither idle nor trivial, as if his words were finely crafted gems.
He was the most handsome and noble among people, both near and far. Among the four people I saw, he was of medium height, neither tall nor short, with eyes perfectly proportioned. He had companions who honored him, and when he spoke, they listened attentively. If he gave orders, they immediately obeyed. He was dignified, impressive, neither harsh nor reckless.”
Her husband was astonished and said:
“My goodness! Who is he?”
She replied:
“Who is he?”
He said:
“This is Muhammad!!!”
“This is the companion of Quraysh! This is Muhammad!!”
Umm Ma‘bad wept and said:
“If I had known that the one who milked my goat is Muhammad, I would have welcomed him with all my heart. I would have offered him this milk, for if I had recognized him, I would have been led to embrace his religion!”
It is said that her name was ‘Atika bint Khallaf, and she migrated to the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) and accepted Islam.
Scholars agree that none of the noble companions of the Prophet (may Allah be pleased with them all) could describe him with such detail, nor could they verify his appearance in this way, except through the words of Umm Ma‘bad, despite her never having known him before.
