Sacred scriptures were revealed in Ramadan

عَنْ وَاثِلَةَ بْنِ الْأَسْقَعِ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ أُنْزِلَتْ صُحُفُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ عَلَيْهِ السَّلَام فِي أَوَّلِ لَيْلَةٍ مِنْ رَمَضَانَ وَأُنْزِلَتْ التَّوْرَاةُ لِسِتٍّ مَضَيْنَ مِنْ رَمَضَانَ وَالْإِنْجِيلُ لِثَلَاثَ عَشْرَةَ خَلَتْ مِنْ رَمَضَانَ وَأُنْزِلَ الْفُرْقَانُ لِأَرْبَعٍ وَعِشْرِينَ خَلَتْ مِنْ رَمَضَانَ

Narrated by Abu Said, the freed slave of Bani Hashim, narrated by Imran Abu Awwam, from Qatada, from Abu Maleeh, from Waathilah bin Asqa that the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: “The scriptures of Abraham, upon him be peace, were revealed on the first night of Ramadan. The Torah was revealed after six nights of Ramadan had passed. The Gospel was revealed after thirteen nights of Ramadan had passed. The Quran was revealed after twenty four nights of Ramadan had passed.” (Musnad Aḥmad 16536)

the construction of each phrase is different

fi ‘awwal laylat min ramadan – means “on the first night from Ramadaan”
lisitt madayn min ramadan – means “to six [days] leaving from Ramadan”
lithalath eashrat khalat min ramadan – “to thirteen [days] falling from Ramadaan”

Using the words fi-laylat, madayn or khalat.

I would suggest that the meaning of this hadith is that the Torah was given six days *after* Ramadan. And the Gospel was gioven 13 days *before* Ramadan.

According to Rabbinic tradition the Torah was given on the 6th of Sivan. Since Ramadan is Iyyar, this means that six days into the next month would be the 6th of Sivan. This matches exactly.

However, what would correspond to 13 days before Ramadan? This would correspond to the 17th of Nissan or three days after the Passover sacrifice on the 14th of Nissan. According to the New Testament this is Easter.

So the question remains, what exactly was revealed on Easter that was called the Ingel?
