Love our master, the Messenger of God, and teach your children to love him, for he is the ship of salvation. Everyone who truly knows him loves him. Our master, the Messenger of God ﷺ, was an infinite source of love, able to encompass all creation. He ﷺ said:
“There is nothing between the heaven and the earth except that it knows that I am the Messenger of God, except the disobedient among the jinn and humankind.”
(Narrated by Ahmad, al-Dārimī, and Ibn Abī Shaybah)
Stones, trees, and mountains loved the Messenger of God ﷺ, rejoiced in his noble mission, greeted him with peace, and longed for him. The Prophet ﷺ said:
“I know a stone in Mecca that used to greet me with peace before I was sent; I still know it now.”
(Narrated by Muslim)
In another narration:
“It used to greet me during the nights when I was sent.”
(Ahmad, al-Tirmidhī, and al-Bayhaqī in al-Dalā’il)
ʿAlī ibn Abī Ṭālib (may God be pleased with him) said:
“We were with the Prophet ﷺ in Mecca, and we went out with him to some of its outskirts. We did not pass by any tree or mountain except that it said: ‘Peace be upon you, O Messenger of God.’”
In another wording:
“He did not pass by any tree or stone except that it greeted him with peace.”
(Narrated by al-Tirmidhī, al-Ḥākim in al-Mustadrak, and Ibn Kathīr in al-Shamā’il)
Medina rejoiced and shone with light at the arrival of the Chosen One ﷺ. Anas (may God be pleased with him) said:
“When the Messenger of God ﷺ entered Medina, everything in the city was illuminated. And on the day the Messenger of God ﷺ passed away, everything in Medina became dark. We had not even finished burying him when we felt our hearts had changed.”
(Narrated by Ahmad and al-Tirmidhī)
Mount Uḥud was among the mountains that the Prophet ﷺ testified loved him and the believers. He ﷺ said about it:
“This is a mountain that loves us, and we love it.”
(Agreed upon)
Indeed, this lofty mountain responded with humility and obedience to the command of its beloved master, the Prophet ﷺ, when he struck it with his noble foot as it trembled beneath him and his companions. It is authentically reported from Anas (may God be pleased with him):
“The Prophet ﷺ climbed Mount Uḥud along with Abū Bakr, ʿUmar, and ʿUthmān, and it trembled beneath them. He struck it with his foot and said: ‘Be firm, O Uḥud, for upon you are only a Prophet, a truthful one, and two martyrs.’”
(Agreed upon)
So Uḥud immediately became still, loving and obedient to its master and beloved, the Chosen One ﷺ.
Likewise, a tree longed to greet the Messenger of God ﷺ, so it sought permission from its Lord, the Mighty and Majestic, to greet him. Yaʿlā ibn Murrah al-Thaqafī (may God be pleased with him) said:
“We continued on our journey until we stopped at a place where the Prophet ﷺ fell asleep. Then a tree came, splitting the earth, until it covered him, and then returned to its place. When he awoke, I mentioned this to him, and he said:
‘It is a tree that sought permission from its Lord, the Mighty and Majestic, to greet the Messenger of God, and He granted it permission.’”
(Narrated by Ahmad, al-Ṭabarānī, Abū Nuʿaym, and al-Bayhaqī in al-Dalā’il)
May God have mercy on the author of al-Burdah, who said about him ﷺ:
He is the one with whom perfection and form were completed,
then the Creator of souls chose him as a beloved.Free from any partner in his noble qualities,
for the essence of beauty in him is indivisible.Leave aside what the Christians claimed about their prophet,
and judge as you wish in praising him, and be firm.Attribute to his essence whatever honor you wish,
and to his rank whatever greatness you wish. For the virtue of the Messenger of God has no limit
that a speaker could fully express with words.
