كلّ شوقٍ يسكنُ باللقاء لا يُعوَّل عليه

 

#Ibn_ʿArabī
The Greatest Sheikh, Muḥyī al-Dīn Ibn ʿArabī, says:

*"And the cup of the drink of love is the heart of the lover, not his intellect nor his senses. The heart fluctuates from state to state, just as Allah—the Beloved—varies in His affairs each day. The lover’s attachment to the Beloved varies according to the diversity of the Beloved’s actions.

It is like a clear white glass cup, which takes on the color of whatever liquid is poured into it. The color of the lover is the color of the Beloved.

This applies only to the heart. The intellect belongs to the world of restriction, which is why it is called ʿaql (from ʿiqāl, meaning bridle or restraint). The senses are likewise necessarily tied to the world of limitation, unlike the heart.

Love has many different and even contradictory judgments, and only the one whose heart can turn and fluctuate with them can fully receive them."*

ويقول الشيخ الأكبر محيي الدين بن عربي
وكأس شراب الحبّ هو القلب من المُحبّ لا عقله ولا حسّه، فإن القلب يتقلّب من حال إلى حال، كما أن الله الذي هو المحبوب كل يوم هو في شأن، فيتنوّع المحبّ في تعلّق حبه بتنوع المحبوب في أفعاله، كالكأس الزجاجي الأبيض الصافي يتنوع بحسب تنوع المائع الحالٍّ فيه، فلون المحبّ لونُ محبوبه، وليس هذا إلا للقلب، فإن العقل من عالم التقييد، ولهذا سُمّي عقلًا من العقال، والحِسُّ فمعلوم بالضرورة أنه من عالم التقييد بخلاف القلب، وذلك أنّ الحب له أحكام كثيرة مختلفة متضادة فلا يقبلها إلا من في قوّته الانقلاب معه فيها، وذلك لا يكون إلا للقلب.
